East Cornwall Pony Club

Tetrathlon

Welcome to Tetrathlon

Tetrathlon consists of four phases.

SHOOTING: This is target shooting with an air pistol. We hold regular shoot training for all abilities and ages (over 8). All competitors must receive shoot training prior to competition.

RUNNING: This is usually on grass and distances vary according to age. Under 12 1000m, senior girls and junior 1500m, intermediate boys 2000m, senior boys 3000m. Competitors start individually and gain points for their time.

SWIMMING: Under 12 swim for 2 mins. Intermediate girls and junior 3mins. Senior boys 4 mins. You can swim any stroke and change strokes if you wish. Points are awarded for every metre swum. If you are not a competant swimmer you may request an outside lane.

RIDING: This is usually held on the second day. Competitors are required to ride a cross country course, this includes a gate to be completed whilst mounted and a slip rail which is done dismounted. Points are scored for completing fences. Once you have jumped the first three fences there is no elimination. Novice Mini 2' Mini and Novice junior 2'6" Junior 3' Intermediate 3'3" and Senior 3'6"

All points scored from each phase are added together to give a final score.

Prizes are awarded to the highest scoring member in each phase. Members are also put into teams of four and prizes awarded to the highest scoring teams.

Tetrathlon is a great way to have fun and meet new people. You do not need to be an outstanding athlete to have a go.

PLEASE NOTE: Entries need to be done through the team trainer and not directly. Entries on the website will close a week before to allow for them to be recieved by the club. No late entries will be accepted.
