Pontispool (Taunton) Summer Camp 2018- DEPOSIT

Date: Monday 30th April 2018

Arrive Monday 20th August @ 7.00pm - Depart Thurday 23rd August 2017

Total Cost:  £250 per person (Subsidised by £10)

This residential camp is aimed at club members aged 11 years + on 1st Jan 2018.

Pontispool will provide a great opportunity to ride at a venue with fantastic facilities including an extensive XC course available throughout our stay.  We will be taking 3 instructors who will ensure you learn and have plenty of fun, both on and off the ponies.

Riding groups will be kept small too ensure every child benefits from the experience.

Plentiful meals and refreshments will be provided by the onsite caterers.

Accommodation will be in small heated cabins with toilet and shower facilities nearby.

Evening activities will be arranged to keep everyone occupied.

Stables, hay and straw will be provided for your pony throughout your stay.

The instructors and at least 2 parent helpers will remain on site with the group during camp.

A non refundable deposit of £50 must be paid no later than 15th April 2018 to secure your place.

IF CAMP IS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF NUMBERS THE DEPOSIT WILL BE REFUNDED

Further payments will then need to be made:

We recognise that this camp is outside our local area, but feel that the opportunities it offers are well worth the drive - if in doubt, speak to members that went last year and you will be convinced.

TEAM SHOWJUMPNG - LYNEHAM HOUSE - 7 MAY

Date: Monday 7th May 2018

Open team Jumping with 5 different classes from 50cm to 95cm.  Teams of 4, Class 1 70cm/75cm, Class 2 80cm/85, Class 3 90cm/95, Class 4 50cm/55cm and Class 5 60cm/65cm.  Something for everyone there are usually sashes to be won!  Teams of 4.  There are also individual classes which are entry on the day.  Please book and then email, text or messenger me the class you wish to compete with member and pony name.  This is an open event so teams can be mixed of pony club members and non members if any mums etc wish to make up a team!

A return to traditional pony club roots catering for all ages and abilities.  A mixture of flatwork and jumping with an aim of creating well rounded competent riders!  Held over 1.5 hours, on grass in an open space.  The perfect learning environment for both pony and rider.  Groups will be maximum of 6 per instructor, grouped by ability. Check the website for correct dress code.  Tack and hat check.

Mini / Intermediate Camp 2018 - Information

Date: Thursday 31st May 2018

Mini Camp 2 days - Weds 1st August and Thurs 2nd August (ponies and children go home at night) £60 for both days (£30 deposit non refundable) suitable for those on the lead rein or just off.

Intermediate Camp 2 nights / 3 days Weds 1st August - Friday 3rd August (ponies and children to stay at Duchy) cost £150 (£50 deposit non-refundable) suitable for those confident riding off the lead rein and jumping 40cm or more.

You can book in the tab below for each camp.

Duchy will provide a wonderful opportunity to both mini and intermediate members. The club have the exclusive use of all facilities (2 indoor schools, the outside arena, show jumps and some XC jumps) for the duration of the camp.

We will have instructors who will each take groups based on ability to ensure that members enjoy the best experience and learning in a fun environment.

Activities and unmounted lessons will also be provided to enhance the experience together with evening entertainment for those members staying on site. Accommodation will be in classrooms with shower and toilet facilities nearby. Evening activities will be led by some senior members with lots of fun and games and even our own ECPHC talent show!

Meals, snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the duration of camp with the exception of the first day when a packed lunch will be required. Meals will be prepared from a purpose built kitchen on site and members will enjoy the use of the canteen.

Helpers / supervisors will be on site every night throughout the duration of camp. Stables, water, shavings will also be provided throughout the stay. Members will just need to bring hay and hard feed. 

With such excellent facilities this represents really good value for money and we have the bonus of indoor schools if we encounter wet weather.

Please note: All ponies must have up to date vaccinations which will be checked upon arrival.

These times are approximate. Detailed times and directions will be sent at close of entries.

  • The ride for class 1 and 2 will not be the same as classes 3 and 4. There will be different combinations and time allowed as per 2018 rule book

  • Competitors in classes 1 to 6 may choose to ride the course the next size down and take 500 penalties if they wish - see new rule on page 8 of rulebook. Please declare intentions on the entry form but there will be flexibility so competitors may change after walking the course.

  • Medical Armbands must be worn for the Riding Phase for all classes.

  • Hats must be tagged with the acquamarine PC, BE or British Riding Club tag. See PC Rule Book

    for standards.

  • Body Protectors. All members must be wearing a body protector which meets the BETA 2009

    Level 3 Standard (purple Label). The BETA 2000 is no longer permitted.

  • Please provide your own BE type number bibs. (Number inserts will be supplied).

  • Horse sharing may be allowed at the discretion of the organiser and with a letter from your

    DC as to the suitability of the combination.

  • This Competition will run to the rules of the 2018 Tetrathlon Rule Book.

TEAMS: Branch Teams of 3 or 4 (3 to count) may be entered in each class

There is plenty of room for all on site. You will need 50p for the shower so it is a good idea to bring a supply of coins. Please note there will be a small charge per family for camping to cover the cost of the rubbish skip we have to 

Legal Liability

Neither the Organizers, nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, competitors, spectators or any person or property whatsoever; whether caused by negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever

Health and Safety

The Organizers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the Health and Safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organizer and all the Officials and Stewards.

Diving Permission. Please ensure you have signed on the entry form to give your assurance that each competitor who wishes to dive from the blocks has attained the level of the ASA Competitive Start Award

Photographic Rights

Competitors and their guardians give permission for any photographic and /or film or TV footage taken of persons or horses/ponies taking part in Pony Club events to be used in any media whatsoever for editorial purposes, press information or advertising by or on behalf of The Pony Club and/ or official sponsors of The Pony Club. Please sign that you agree to this on your entry form

DRESSAGE FESTIVAL - PC WALK & TROT TEST 2013

Beginners this is a perfect time to have at a Walk and Trot test!  Open to all, on grass, friendly and no pressure, tests can be read out and assistance is allowed in this nuturing environment.  Give it a go !

Any competitor entering the tetrathlon may choose to ride the xc course the next size down from their class.  They will remain in the same class, but will incur a 500 point penalty.  Please make your xc size clear on your entry form.

The 65cm ride will be over a short course.  Riders may be assisted.

• The xc course will be ready for walking at 10am on Saturday.  Please could everyone park in the Lanhydrock car park and walk to the course.  The National Trust are being very strict about this and will not allow any vehicles to be parked in the field on the Saturday.  Lorries and trailers will be able to park in the field as normal on the Sunday.

• Classes 7 & 8– will be run over a 65cm 2ft course.  Most of the fences will be up to height.  Class may be assisted.

• The riding phase will be timed for classes 1 – 4  but not for classes 5 - 8.  The gate and slip rail will be timed for all classes according to tetrathlon rules.

• No muddy shoes to be worn in the Dragon Leisure centre.

Neither the organisers, nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, vehicles, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever.  The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all the Officials and Stewards.

DIRECTIONS TO DRAGON LEISURE CENTRE

A30 from Launceston – take the Bodmin turning off the A30 and then take the 1st left, sign posted A38.  At the T junction turn left and then 2nd exit off the roundabout. Go over the narrow bridge and at the next T junction turn left.  The Leisure Centre is on the right hand side at the next roundabout.

A30 from Penzance – take the Bodmin turning off the A30 and 1st exit off the roundabout.  Go over the narrow bridgeand at the next T junction turn left.  The Leisure Centre is on the right hand side at the next roundabout.

DIRECTION FROM DRAGON LEISURE CENTRE TO LANHYDROCK

Turn left out of the Dragon and then take the 1st right. Go back over the narrow bridge and take the 2nd exit off the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit. The car park for walking the course on Saturday is about half a mile on the left.  Follow signs for Lanhydrock cark park.  On the Sunday please follow signs for ‘hunter trial’.

A return to traditional pony club roots catering for all ages and abilities.  A mixture of flatwork and jumping with an aim of creating well rounded competent riders!  Held over 1.5 hours, on grass in an open space.  The perfect learning environment for both pony and rider.  Groups will be maximum of 6 per instructor, grouped by ability. Check the website for correct dress code.  Tack and hat check.

Mini / Intermediate Camp at Duchy College

Date: Wednesday 1st August 2018


Mini Camp 2 days - Weds 1st August and Thurs 2nd August (ponies and children go home at night) £60 for both days (£30 deposit non refundable) suitable for those on the lead rein or just off.

Intermediate Camp 2 nights / 3 days Weds 1st August - Friday 3rd August (ponies and children to stay at Duchy) cost £150 (£50 deposit non-refundable) suitable for those confident riding off the lead rein and jumping 40cm or more.

Duchy will provide a wonderful opportunity to both mini and intermediate members. The club have the exclusive use of all facilities (2 indoor schools, the outside arena, show jumps and some XC jumps) for the duration of the camp.

We will have instructors who will each take groups based on ability to ensure that members enjoy the best experience and learning in a fun environment.

Activities and unmounted lessons will also be provided to enhance the experience together with evening entertainment for those members staying on site. Accommodation will be in classrooms with shower and toilet facilities nearby. Evening activities will be led by some senior members with lots of fun and games and even our own ECPHC talent show!

Meals, snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the duration of camp with the exception of the first day when a packed lunch will be required. Meals will be prepared from a purpose built kitchen on site and members will enjoy the use of the canteen.

Helpers / supervisors will be on site every night throughout the duration of camp. Stables, water, shavings will also be provided throughout the stay. Members will just need to bring hay and hard feed. 

With such excellent facilities this represents really good value for money and we have the bonus of indoor schools if we encounter wet weather.

Please note: All ponies must have up to date vaccinations which will be checked upon arrival.
