Prince Phillip Cup Training (Mounted Games)

The final PPC training rally, before the competition at Keason Farm, Pillaton.
As this will be outdoors it is weather dependent. Julia will contact you by text or phone if cancellation is necessary.
We plan to hold a BBQ after the training, bring and share your own food to be cooked on the BBQ provided. If time allows, there may be a parents race, so bring your hat!
All members are welcome, whether or not you are part of a team - we would be delighted to see you.

General Rally (all ages) & Team Training

This is one of a series of general rallies open to all members. There will be some flatwork and some jumping at each rally. We hope to have the portable XC jumps to use after our ODE (the June rallies) but there will show jumps until then. Back protectors are recommended.
Members will be placed into rides (small groups of approx 6) according to age and ability. Cost £8
Please be mounted and ready to ride by 6.30pm. The rally should last up to an hour and a half.
All instruction will take place at the same time so there should be no transport issues etc. However to ensure that we have sufficient instructors the last booking date for each rally will be the Monday before. Late entries will only accepted after this time at the organiser's discretion (usually only if there are sufficient places in the rides that have been organised).
Team Training: At this rally we will also have a get-together with the Team Trainers of those members considering entering for Area Teams (dressage, SJ and eventing). Please book here as usual and we will organise the groups on the night. For more info on Teams see the download below

The rallies will be held in an open field at Keason Farm. If you are not confident controlling your pony in an open environment please let the organiser know beforehand as one ride (usually the youngest/lead rein riders) will be taught in the sand school at Louise Garland's (just across the road). Everyone should park at Keason Farm where you will meet your instructor. Please be mounted and ready to ride by 6.30pm the rally should last approx an hour and a half.

Please ensure that you arrive in plenty of time so that you are tacked up and ready to ride by the time stated. Body protectors and appropriate clothing should be worn. Please check stitching on stirrup leathrs and ensure that all hats and tack fit well. Failure to wear a body protector or appropriate clothing will mean you will not be allowed to participate in the rally. 15 minutes has been allowed as a changeover time between the two rides. Each session will be approximately 90minutes.

Alison has asked if the next group of riders could enter the school and start warming up on arrival rather than wait outside. She is happy for riders to come in and thinks this will be better for horses and riders than waiting outside in the dark.
As ever the lighting at Duchy is poor (no lighting on the approach road or in the car park) so please bring a torch. Take care when using the approach road to access the indoor school as there are several large water filled pot holes. I would recommend that an adult walk with any riders with a torch or that horses are led.
Please clear up after your horses in the school and car park area. Our pony club will be charged if droppings are found in the car park or school.

Would the first group please arrive early to help bring in any jumps that the instructors require. Would the last group please stay until all jumps have been put away.
Please be careful with the road to the indoor schools as there are several large potholes. I would recommend that an adult with a torch accompany the children or that all ponies/horses are led from the carpark area to the schools.
All lorries and trailers should park in the car park NOT outside the indoor schools and everyone MUST clean up after their horses/ponies before leaving. Again I would advise everyone to bring a torch as there is no lighting in the carpark.
I will drop in to make sure that all is well at some point during the evening but I will not be there at the start or end of the rally. I have checked the lists and I am sure that everyone from the first groups will have been to a rally at Duchy before. If you have any questions please contact me by email, txt or phone (07411672351). Please note that as far as I am aware there are road closures on the main A388 from Callington (far side of Kelly Bray) to just before Launceston (turn off for Tavistock). I don't think anyone is coming from that direction but please be aware of this and plan to come to Duchy through Stoke Climsland. You will need to turn right beside the Swingle Tree pub at Kelly Bray.

Combined Training Event - TIMES AVAILABLE
Date: Saturday 24th November 2012
A Combined Training competition open to ECHPC members only.
Each entry will complete a dressage test and a round of showjumping. Rossettes to 6th place in each class. Entry fee £10 per class. There will also be clear round jumping at each of the 4 heights (£5 per round).
Dressage Tests will be a) Pony Club Introductory Dressage Test 2007 (jump height 70cm and 80cm) b) Pony Club Intermediate Event Test 2009 (jump height 90cm and 1 metre). To print off these tests go the 'Dressage Tests' section of this website. Test a) may be called during the test by a parent or helper.
We are hoping to put the jumps in the school on Friday evening. If anyone is available to help at approx 7.00pm please ring Alison on 07886 512320
We will actually build the course on the Saturday morning while the dressage is taking place in the other arena. Please can all parents and members help.
At 11.30am Mrs Pricilla Allen, our course builder and judge, will walk the course with all those in classes 1 and 2. An excellent opportunity to learn how a course should be walked and will help you at other competitions.
After the jumping the jumps have to be put away. Please stay and help as many hands make light (and quick) work.
Tea, coffee, squash and biscuits will be available on the day. Please help yourself. A small donation would be appreciated.

For the members that have been doing the C+ training there will be a chance to be assessed and then arrange a test date for those that are considered ready to take their test .
C Test please arrive by 1pm to start riding at 1.30pm. Stable management will follow afterwards. Ponies should be turned out correctly (groomed, plaited) with well fitting tack and riders should wear jackets, shirts, pony club ties, beige jodhpurs, hairnets etc.
C+ assessment please arrive by 2pm to start riding at 2.30pm. Ponies should be groomed but need not be plaited. Riders need not wear jackets etc but should wear clothing appropriate for a rally (no cross country colours, coloured numnahs, hoodies etc.)

The Peter-Hoblyn Competition is open to members of Cornish Pony Clubs (including clubs which are partly in Cornwall).
This is a competition for TEAMS OF SIX. At least two thirds of the members in each team must be under 16 years of age on the day of the competition, and at least one third should have never been in any of the Area Eventing teams.
This year the decision has been made to lower the height of the xc phase (maximum 2ft 6") to encourage the younger and less confident riders to take part . The competition consists of 3 phases : Tack and Turnout , Dressage and XC

Mounted Rally (all ages)

This is the second in a series of mounted rallies.
Members will be placed in small groups (about 6) according to age and ability.
This rally will be a training event for all members.
Some members may wish to work towards a combined training event to be held at the end of the rallies in July. You will be given an opportunity to ride a dressage test of your choice if you wish. Please bring a copy of the test you wish to ride with you. There are a range of dressage tests available on the website under 'Dressage Tests'. At the combined training you will have a choice of D Test Level 1 (a walk/trot test) and the Novice Event Test (2006). You may choose a different test for this training session. You will be given feedback from your instructor on your dressage test. You will also be able to complete a course of jumps.
Please ensure that all members are dressed correctly, ponies groomed and tack cleaned as there will be a tack and turnout inspection at each rally. Points will count towards the annual tack and turnout prize.
Please be mounted and ready to ride by 6.30pm.

- Each horse/pony may only compete once in Class 2.
- Final declarations on the day 30mins prior to competition.

At the presentation evening our guest Speaker will be Jane Talbot-Smith the longest established Master Saddler in Cornwall . She will give a short talk on her work and the career oportunities in the trade and bring along some samples of her work including a fault finding fun test for all . Jane lives and works in East Cornwall country at Harrowbridge on the road between Redgate and Jamaica Inn.
For those of you who haven't been to a presentation evening before it is intended to be a fun, social event. The evening will start with a speech from our DC, Richard Lucas, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions. The visiting speaker (Jane Talbot-Smith) will then give a short talk followed by any questions you might have for her. Finally there will be a presentation of awards followed by a break for refreshments. The evening will end with pig racing.
There will be a bar and everyone who comes is asked to please bring a plate of food.
There will be an equestrian Bring & Buy Sale, and ECHPC clothing will also be on sale. You can also renew your membership.
All welcome. We hope to see you there.

Clear Round SJ and Cross Country

Following the ODE there will be a chance to jump the cross country course at Merrymeet. On Saturday 4th June there will be clear round cross country, £10 per round, and clear round show jumping £5 per round.
There will be different times for different heights. 10-12.30pm 1m and 90cm, 12.30-3pm 75cm and 70 cm.
The courses can be walked from 6pm on Friday 3rd June. The course must be jumped in number order and in the correct direction with Red Flag on Right. You will only be allowed 3 stops per fence then you must move on to the next fence. Numbers on the course at any one time will be strictly regulated at the organisers’ discretion (there will be jump stewards on the course).

Team Training Rally

This is the first of fortnightly evening rallies at this venue for those who aspire to compete in the Pony Club Area 16 (Devon and Cornwall) dressage, showjumping or eventing competitions. There are three levels: Novice (90-95cm), Intermediate (1-1.05m) and Open (1.10-1.15m). You must be available to compete in the Area competition (provisional dates 2nd July Dressage 17th July Eventing, 28th July Show Jumping).
Entry fees for these events are typically �40 Area Eventing, �20 Area Show Jumping and �17 Area Dressage. We are awaiting the fee information for 2011.
If successful in these Area competitions you will qualify to compete in the PC National Championships as a team member or as an individual, Novice (0.95-1m), Intermediate (1.05-1.10m) and Open (1.15m). You must be prepared to participate in the National Chmpionships if successful, these will take place Int/Open between 13th and 16th August 2011 at Draycott House, Derbyshire and Novice between 27th and 28th August, Cheshire.
